The dentists at our clinic at The West Mall and Bloor offer dental sedation options to help patients feel more relaxed and comfortable during their dental procedures.

Anxious Patients

If you feel nervous about visiting the dentist, our sedation services may help. Dental sedation refers to techniques and sedative drugs used to help calm anxious patients during dental procedures, or to make patients more comfortable during long procedures.

Managing Dental Anxiety

Dental anxiety is a common condition where a patient experiences fear or intense nervousness about undergoing a dental procedure.

While these feelings are completely understandable, it is very important to address them rather than avoiding necessary dental care. Avoiding dental treatment that you need may result in more serious oral health problems down the road.

We Can Help

At West Mall Dental Group, we do everything we can to help anxious patients feel relaxed and comfortable when they visit us. If you are feeling nervous, please talk to us about your concerns. We are happy to work at your pace, take breaks when you need them, and provide calm reassurance as needed.

We're Here for You

Types of Sedation

Your dentist will discuss your needs with you and recommend the sedation option that could suit you best.

At West Mall Dental Group, we offer three primary sedation options for our patients:

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is a gas that is inhaled through the mouth and nose. It can help calm patients, decreases anxiety, reduces gag reflexes, and makes time seem to pass quicker.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedatives are pills or liquids prescribed by your dentist. The medication is taken orally by the patient ahead of the dental procedure and produces a calming, relaxing effect.

Intravenous (IV) Sedation

IV sedation refers to various medications that can be administered directly into the bloodstream through the vein for the deepest level of sedation short of general anesthesia.
